Delete your Gorowame account
Gorowame is a meeting recorder and transcriber. You can delete your account and the personal data attached to it at any time. There are two ways to do it, and you do not need the app installed to use the second.
1. From inside Gorowame — instant
On the web: sign in at gorowame.com, open Settings, and use Delete account at the bottom of the page.
In the Android or iPhone app: open Account and choose Delete account.
You will be asked for your password. That is deliberate: deleting is the one action where a stolen session must not be enough, so we ask you to prove it is you and not merely that a browser was left open.
2. By email — if you cannot sign in
If you have uninstalled the app, forgotten your password, or cannot reach your account for any other reason, email hello@gorowame.com from the address you signed up with, and ask us to delete your account.
Send it from that address if you possibly can — it is what lets us confirm the request is yours. If you cannot, write from any address and tell us the one you signed up with; we will verify another way before deleting anything, because a deletion request we cannot trace to its owner is a way to erase someone else’s work.
We aim to reply within two business days.
What is deleted
Deleting your account removes, immediately and permanently:
- your email address, your name and your profile picture;
- your password;
- every session — you are signed out of every browser and device;
- your membership of every workspace;
- any connection to Google Calendar, so the access we were granted is given up rather than left live;
- your name and email on any meeting that recorded you as a participant.
Share links you created are revoked, so anything you handed out stops working. Action items assigned to you are left unassigned rather than deleted — the task belonged to the meeting, not to you.
What happens to your recordings
A workspace only you belong to is deleted with you — its meetings, transcripts and audio included. It can be restored for 30 days and is then erased for good, audio and all. The grace period exists so that a misclick is survivable; if you want it gone sooner, say so in your email and we will erase it immediately.
Recordings in a workspace shared with other people stay with that workspace. They belong to the team rather than to your account, and your name and address are removed from them.
You can delete a single meeting whenever you like. Open it and choose Delete meeting; the recording, the transcript, the summary, the decisions and the action items all go, and nothing is kept. The person who recorded it can always delete it, as can a workspace owner or admin.
You can also delete a whole workspace, which removes its meetings and their audio; set the workspace’s retention period so recordings are deleted automatically after a time you choose, from one day to ten years; or email us at hello@gorowame.com and ask for specific recordings to be removed.
One case where deletion is refused
If you own a workspace that other people are still in, Gorowame will not delete your account, and it will name the workspaces standing in the way.
Deleting it would destroy their meetings; leaving it behind would leave a workspace owned by nobody, which no one could then administer. Neither is ours to choose for you. Hand ownership to somebody else, or remove the members, and deletion goes through.
What is kept, and for how long
An empty, scrubbed account row is kept so that meetings created by you keep their history and do not lose the record that they were created at all. It carries no name, no address, no password and no way to sign in — it identifies nobody.
Backups of the database roll over on their own schedule, so a copy of deleted data can persist in them for a short period after deletion before it is overwritten. Nothing is restored from a backup to reinstate a deleted account.
What is collected in the first place, who it is sent to, and how long it is kept are all in the privacy policy. Questions about any of this go to hello@gorowame.com.
